Douloufakis Winery

Douloufakis winery is located in the village of Dafnes, just 15 kilometers south of  the city of Heraklion, Crete, in Greece.  Dafnes is in the centre of the wine growing zone of "Dafnes" Protected Designation of Origin  (P.D.O.)

Douloufakis Winery , Crete, GreeceThe tradition and history of Douloufakis Family in vineyard cultivation and production started in 1930. Nowadays, it is continued by Nikolas Douloufakis, who studied Oenology in Italy (Alba Intituto Agrario-Spezialitato in Diviticultura e Enologia) and has proceeded to the renewing of the wine premises and to the production of superior quality wines from his own vineyards.
The  privately owned vineyards are 10 hectares and are situated in hill slopes at an altitude of 350 meters.  The cultivation is done by mechanical means.  Several varieties are cultivated, such as the white grape varieties  Vilana, Vidiano, Spina Muscat, Malvasia, Chardonnay and  Sauvignon Blanc, but also red varieties like Mandilari, Liatiko, Kotsifali, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah. Apart from  privately owned vineyards, grapes are sourced from farmers who cultivate their own vineyards in the same area, that Douloufakis winery work with.

The long history of  Douloufakis winery reinforces and rewards the preference of wine lovers but also the wine awards  in Greek and international competitions.

“Dafnios” is the brand name of the wine of classification "DAFNES PDO".
